Why going green isn’t optional anymore
In a world where 80% of employees say sustainability initiatives at work are important, businesses can no longer afford to treat environmental action as a side project. According to our recent Evolving Workplaces: Find your space to thrive report, employees are calling for real change, with sustainable commuting options including electric vehicle incentives, energy-efficient buildings, and office waste reduction topping the list of priorities.
ISS hits new milestones in fleet electrification
Environmental sustainability is a key priority for ISS, and changing our fleet to electrified vehicles is a key initiative as part of this.
Since launching our global vehicle electrification project in 2022, our fleet of electrified vehicles from 2,647 at the end of 2023 to 3,739 by Q1 2025. That’s now 23% of its global fleet - with a target of 18,000 by 2030.
The impact is a 34% drop in CO2 emissions from vehicles since 2019 – comfortably surpassing our target.
“Our initial target was to reduce CO2 emissions by a third before the end of 2025, but we reached it ahead of schedule,” says Patrik Havranek, Head of Group Fleet Management. “Now we’re aiming for an additional 7% reduction by year-end.”
“We keep raising the bar. 2025 is just a milestone – our ambition is to drive emissions down even further over the next five years,” adds Thomas William Yde, Head of Category Management.
Overall greenhouse gas emissions dropped from 73,000 tonnes in 2021 to 57,740 in 2024 – further highlighting the impact of the project.
These figures highlight the impact of the project as we aim to create a more sustainable future. The electrification of our fleet is just one of the steps we are taking to try and achieve this, and you can find out about some of our other initiatives here.
