Empowering and guiding young professionals
For more than 15 years, Pauli has been mentoring vocational students – many with special needs – passing on his expertise in maintenance and passion for service excellence.
“I love working with young people, they bring such great energy and they’re always open to learn. We work side by side, and I guide them through each step. The best reward is seeing them gain confidence, trust in themselves and making plans to take further studies. Seeing that growth makes my job worthwhile.”
As ISS’ Workplace Instructor, Pauli has developed and supported many students, but his teaching goes beyond that – he has also helped them learn valuable skills for life.
“I want to support others in the way I would have wanted someone to help me. Young people today are confident with technology, but manual skills are often new to them, which makes teaching these especially valuable. These abilities go far beyond the profession, giving them the confidence to handle challenges and take care of things in everyday life.”
Finding purpose along the journey
After working at ISS for more than 37 years, Pauli continues to find meaning and motivation in his work. Reflecting on his career journey, he shares:
“At ISS, I’ve had many opportunities to grow and develop. Having the trust and support of my supervisor has encouraged me to take new courses and keep developing new skills, which have helped me to remain relevant. But most importantly, I’ve found a place where I can truly thrive.”
Looking ahead, Pauli hopes to strengthen cooperation with educational institutions and inspire more students to explore careers with ISS.
“I want to increase ISS’ visibility among young talent and create more apprenticeship opportunities while continuing to introduce ISS and the property maintenance profession in schools.”
