Driven by people and a growth mindset

Pauli Hyvärinen, ISS Maintenance Operator for a banking customer in Finland, has been part of ISS for over 37 years. His fascination with machines and technology began at a young age:

“I am the youngest of eight children and growing up we used to repair things at home because buying new devices wasn’t always possible.” he recalls. “But it was the summer I stepped in for my father while he was on holiday from his job in property maintenance that I discovered the joy this work brings me.”

In his role, Pauli looks after the building’s maintenance across multiple sites, ensuring workplaces perform efficiently and that every customer request is delivered with exceptional service. But what sets him apart is his growth mindset – always curious, eager to learn and striving to improve and add value for his customers.

“I start the day by cleaning trash, leaves or snow, depending on the season. After that, I take care of maintenance operations and ensure systems keep running smoothly. What I love most about this job is meeting customers, helping them resolving their issues and creating a service experience that makes a real difference. My goal is to create an environment where people feel supported.”
