We are excited to announce the addition of Joe Stolarski as President of ISS’ East Division in North America. Joe brings decades of experience in facilities management and commercial real estate to ISS, along with expertise in boosting both client relationships and company growth.
We met with Joe to discuss his new role, the trajectory of the industry, and how a focus on hospitality can boost success for organizations.
What excites you about joining ISS?
Our industry yearns for hospitality, and not just talk — people want to actually experience it, to see it and feel it happen. FM and workplace must endeavor to be more hospitality based, and I think ISS has a big differentiator in Guckenheimer. Being in the food and hospitality business is a part of our culture and who we are fundamentally, and this will be powerful as we continue to grow the business.
Another thing that excites me is that I’m flattered to be joining such an excellent team. We’ve got a focus on creating camaraderie and emphasizing those little things that come from collaboration and working together toward a common goal. Effective leadership ensures the team is coming together in a way that not only lines up with our strategy but also drives success for our clients.
Can you speak more about hospitality and how it accelerates growth?
I have spent a lot of time thinking about what the future of work looks like, and I’ve advised organizations on how to adapt and improve their workplaces. Both food and the way an organization cares for employees are critical components of today’s work environment. As I mentioned, Guckenheimer is vital for that. We’re in the hospitality business — it’s not just food service or facility management. We’re focused on satisfying people by providing excellent experiences. Hospitality is a differentiator for creating the kinds of places where people want to work.
When people have the tools and support to do their best work, they’ll do it. For food or FM or anything else, it’s about creating hospitality-driven experiences and aligning your team to focus on those small but meaningful moments of truth.
What do you hope to bring to your role?
I’ve built and contributed to strong teams before, and I’m looking forward to continuing that work. I’m really excited by the people I’ve met — it’s an environment that’s very collegial, open and warm. But I’m also looking forward to bringing a little focus to the business. I’ve been telling our team that we’re going to be successful, and I can almost guarantee we will be. So off we go.
