ISS secures two major awards in the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in Tech Awards
ISS is proud to announce that it has secured two major workplace equality awards at the 2023 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in Tech Awards (DETA).

Sam Watson, Client Relationship Manager and chair of the ISS Gender Balance ERG, was awarded the Gender Equality Champion award; while Kat Parsons, Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion won the Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion of the Year award.
The awards, which took place this year on the 29th June at the Royal Lancaster, London, celebrate the efforts of worldwide tech businesses to incorporate gender, disability and neurodivergence initiatives in their work.
This double-win is another superb example of ISS’s reputation as a workplace of belonging – not least a tremendous way to wrap up a month of company celebrations for this year’s Pride 2023.
On receiving the award, Kat Parsons commented:
“I’m so proud to win this award. To watch the culture in a business change so much in such a short period of time is phenomenal. ISS has always been a great company but now it’s making waves!!"
Sam Watson also commented:
“I could have never of got this far on my own and so want to say a huge thankyou to my family, friends, colleagues and mentors for your encouragement and support, and to ISS Facility Services UK for being a true company of belonging allowing me a voice to drive positive change ❤️
I would also like to say congratulations to all the exceptional individuals who were shortlisted for this award. Your dedication championing gender equality is truly inspiring, and it is an absolute privilege to be part of such an amazing group of change-makers.”
Among those nominees were a further two key ISS staff and initiatives, including:
- Joe James, Security Firstline Manager, ISS UK - The Neurodiversity Champion Award
Joe has written and had published articles about Neurodivergence, his life and opinions on how society treats neurodivergent people. His efforts have seen schools and businesses make reasonable adjustments to help those with different needs, experiences and abilities.
- The Menopause Working Group (Menopause Awareness project) - Diversity Initiative Award
ISS’s Menopause Awareness Project has made a talking point of a once-uncomfortable subject, giving a voice to those suffering menopause and its related symptoms and raising awareness of this pervasive and personal reality.
With more than 90 finalists across 13 award categories, ISS is proud to have been nominated in all 4 of these awards – and even more delighted to take two of them home with us.
As a company dedicated to diversity, equity and inclusion, ISS continues to provide a safe, welcome space for workers of all backgrounds. We would like to thank DETA for a wonderful evening and extend our congratulations to all those nominated and awarded on the night.
