A little Jai ho! makes for a great company

Great companies support employees in doing great things, create collaborative environments that work between the customer and the employee, and use the celebration of success to reinforce their purpose. 

At ISS we didn’t want to forget the many amazing things that our employees delivered for our customers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mid-way through the pandemic we launched a company-wide campaign called ‘Jai-ho! – ‘Let victory prevail’ to celebrate triumphs and achievements through tough times. Our objective was simple – to raise the spirits of our employees, stay positive and celebrate the small things to help us all through. 

We had many Jai-ho! moments throughout 2020, receiving awards and accolades which recognised our great employees and their great performance. Here’s just some of our 2020 Jai ho! highlights:

ISS voted ‘Top Service Provider in iFM Industry Brand Survey

It is the 4th time in a row that ISS UK has been voted ‘Top Service provider’ in the industry survey 

Waste & Sustainability

• ISS Group was awarded Platinum rating in the EcoVadis Sustainability Rating Index 2020-21, maintaining its position in the top 1% of all assessed companies for the second year in a row
Edie Sustainability Leaders Awards 2021 – ISS has been shortlisted with five award nominations in partnership with our clients

Health and Safety

BSC International Safety Awards 2020 – ISS received 28 awards in the UK and Ireland, including 11 distinctions 
Health and Safety Excellence Awards – ISS Ireland were named winners of the FM category 
Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Awards 2020 – ISS achieved eight Gold Awards, including the highly sought after Gold Medal and Presidents Award 
SHP Trailblazer Award – Joel Crompton, ISS HSEQ Manager was recognised as a real pioneer of health and safety at the SHP Trailblazer Awards, recognising individuals who have responded to COVID-19 in the most effective or inspiring way

Corporate Responsibility

BITC Responsible Champion Award – ISS received the award for its JointForces@ISS employability programme, which supports Forces personnel to transition from the military to the civilian workplace
Better Society 2020 Awards – We have been shortlisted for the ‘Partnership with a Health Charity’ award for our work with the Stroke Association on their 'Know Your Blood Pressure' campaign
Corporate Covenant Gold Award – ISS has long supported the military and were very proud to be certified as a Gold Award holder for a further five years in the Corporate Covenant Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS)

Excellence and Innovation

O2 Blue Door Award – ISS was named winner in the category ‘Use of technology to connect with customers’, for our leading-edge 'ServicePoint' solution, which saves time and resources by seamlessly connecting clinical staff to the ISS service teams at the touch of a button
IWFM COVID Response Awards – ISS was named as a finalist in three award categories in the renowned Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) Impact Awards 2020. ISS made the final with nominations for Nightingale Hospital, Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and Heathrow Airport
Corporate Receptionist of the Year 2020 Award – Diana Riaubiene, who works for ISS at a Banking Client site in London, was announced the overall winner of the Corporate Receptionist of the Year Award 2020, which took place virtually in December. Diana wowed the judges all the way through the different stages of the competition, even finishing her presentation in sign language to demonstrate her exceptional skill to engage and go above and beyond for her visitors and colleagues
Public Sector Caterer of the Year – Mark Davies, MD of ISS Food Services was crowned winner by The Caterer, receiving a Catey award, considered to be the most prestigious within the UK catering industry
Mark Davies and Craig Smith were both named in the ’20 Most Influential People in Public Sector Catering’ for 2020 by industry publishers, Dewberry Redpoint
• Stacey Cooney won the 2020 Outstanding Young Franchisee Bronze Award in the AFA Awards 
Jennie Mills was awarded 'Insurance Woman of the Year (small to medium firms) Award' in the Women in Insurance Awards 2020
Liam Hargreaves & Jason Hough received the 'Next Generation Award' at the bfa HSBC British Franchise Awards
British Dietetic Association’s (BDA) Roll of Honour 2020 – Lauren Bowen, ISS Healthcare’s Head of Patient Catering was entered on to the Roll of Honour list for her outstanding contribution to the Hospital Food Review, an independent review of NHS hospital food across the UK
Kimberly Clark Golden Services Awards – Best Cleaned Hospital – ISS was named as winners with their nomination for Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax 
Leon Dole – 'BICSc Thumbs Up Award', celebrating frontline industry excellence for his heroic efforts in supporting our client in the battle against COVID-19
