ISS UK retains RoSPA Gold Medal Award for Technical Services delivery

The ninth consecutive award for excellence in health and safety practices
The ISS Technical Service business, based in Stoke-on-Trent in the UK, has attained a prestigious Gold Medal Award. The Medal is in recognition of its practices and achievements in helping its people, clients and stakeholders to innovate and implement health and safety at the core of the community.

The Technical Services team at ISS retained their Gold Medal having received nine consecutive Gold Awards in the internationally-renowned RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, the longest-running industry awards scheme in the UK.

Kath Fontana, Managing Director of ISS Technical Services, said, “We’re delighted to continue our solid record of Gold Awards which highlight the importance we place on Health & Safety in our business. We face a range of challenges for our future workplaces. We can however develop and drive our technological expertise to find solutions that create safe spaces for our people and clients. We lead the industry debate on this – see our discussion panel on this topic to raise awareness of new opportunities such as virtual workplaces to maintain and improve health and safety in our workspaces.”

Kath Fontana was recently elected to the role of Senior Vice President of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Tim Proctor, Director of Health, Safety, Environment, Quality & Corporate Responsibility, ISS UK
commented, “We place high value on the ability to provide and embed continual improvement across our business – for both our clients and our people. The workplace is in a state of constant evolution, therefore we are always finding opportunities to implement safety in our culture. We’ve developed programmes such as our ‘Safety Heroes’, through to use of Virtual Reality in health and safety training. It’s part of our greater strategy called the ‘Three Es which involves: Everyone in the business, in Everything they do, Every time they do it”.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of qualifications, awards and events, said: “The RoSPA Awards are the most highly-respected in the health and safety arena, with almost 2,000 entrants every year, and allow organisations to prove excellence in the workplace, demonstrating a commitment to the wellbeing of not only employees but all those who interact with it.”

The ISS team will be presented with the award during a ceremony at Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel on Thursday, July 5, 2018.
