NatWest Group Incident Recovery

When an extensive leak flooded the sub-basement of the London Bishopsgate branch of NatWest in February 2021, it was clear that urgent work was needed to minimise damage and ensure the safety of staff and customers.
The team – a partnership between the NatWest Group and ISS – quickly sprang into action. Just 25 minutes after the leak was discovered, ISS engineers had been alerted and all key stakeholders mobilised, including FM and the London Fire Brigade.
Water and power were switched off, and a response centre was set up above the branch to coordinate the recovery effort, which included dehumidification, disinfecting and a full clean. Although it was the weekend, a team arrived on site and stayed in continuous contact, with incident update calls and situation reports helping to coordinate a response.
“The collaboration in those first hours will forever stay in my mind,”
says Ian Stuart, Chief Engineer at the NatWest Group.
