ISS Indonesia Shares Best Practices in B3 Waste Management to Strengthen OHS Culture at MRT Jakarta’s Safety Talk

Represented by Mirza Kurniawan, Head of HSEQ Department at ISS Indonesia, the session covered a range of important topics, including the definition of hazardous waste (B3), understanding Safety Data Sheets (SDS), the environmental impact of hazardous spills, and practical tips for preventing waste pollution in both industrial and household sectors.

The event was held in a hybrid format from MRT Jakarta’s head office at Wisma Nusantara, Jakarta, and was attended by management representatives as well as MRT Jakarta’s vendors and contractors.

Maria Winda Anggreni, QSSHE Assurance Department Head at PT MRT Jakarta said:

“ISS Indonesia's support has been highly beneficial to MRT Jakarta. As MRT Jakarta strives to maintain cleanliness across its facilities and infrastructure, ISS Indonesia contributes significantly to this vision and mission by helping ensure the cleanliness of the MRT Jakarta area”.

As for the management of hazardous and toxic waste (B3) at MRT, we already have a system in place. ISS Indonesia also helps and provides input, especially in terms of program planning, waste sorting, transportation, and documentation.

Today’s safety talk highlighted a key takeaway regarding the Safety Data Sheet (SDS). So far, SDS has only been understood by the HSE or Environment teams. However, in practice, frontline units that directly handle these materials often lack awareness of the associated hazards and the appropriate emergency response procedures. Therefore, the insights shared by ISS Indonesia on the importance of disseminating SDS knowledge to site personnel were particularly valuable.”

ISS Indonesia is proud to contribute and remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen OHS culture in collaboration with MRT Jakarta.
