Cheryl Humphries has won the LACA South East School Chef of the Year (SCOTY) Regional Final – now on to the National Final
Cheryl works for ISS Education at the High Weald Academy in Cranbrook, Kent. She will now compete against the other nine regional champions plus two ‘wild card’ entries at the SCOTY National Final.
The School Chef of the Year Award is the most prestigious that any school chef across the UK can gain.
Five school chefs competed in the South East Regional Final, which was held at St Albans. They had 90 minutes to prepare four portions of a main course and a dessert suitable for an 11-year-old in a school.
Cheryl served a chicken breast with chicken crackling, stuffing, mash, vegetables, beetroot with horseradish sauce and gravy for her main course. Her winning dessert was a cinnamon doughball with stewed and fresh apples, toffee sauce and honeycomb crumb.
Speaking after the event, Cheryl said: “I am over the moon, today has been unbelievable but now I must focus on the final.”
The SCOTY National Final will be held 5th Match at the Stratford Manor Hotel.
