ISS celebrates winning the IWFM Impact on Environment award with Business Services client
A huge congratulations to our Business Services client and the ISS team who were crowned winners of ‘Impact on the Environment’ at the IWFM Awards 2019
The Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) Awards, which took place on 14th October are renowned in the FM industry and recognise and showcase best-in-class workplace and facilities management and evidence its impact on business, the economy and society.
The ‘Impact on the Environment’ category seeks to identify and recognise "innovative environmental initiatives that can objectively demonstrate the positive impact achieved for the organisation, its workplace and society at large." ISS in collaboration with our Big Four professional services client, did just that, winning the award for their Project Ceres sustainability campaign which was started in 2018 to radically reduce plastic consumption across the client’s 23 UK offices.
The campaign, which eliminated 7.7 million items (57 tonnes) of single use plastic per year, delivered a 91% reduction in just eight months - a fantastic achievement, in line with the client’s environmental policy and the ISS ThinkForward CR strategy which commits to reducing carbon emissions, recycling and reducing waste and procuring sustainable products and services as part of our Corporate Responsibility agenda.
The team reduced the amount of single-use plastic being used through a number of initiatives including the promotion of reusable cups for coffee and water and also by introducing a green tariff for any disposable cup used. Read more about the campaign here.
The team was also delighted to be shortlisted for the Innovation in Technology and Systems award.
Speaking on the award, Louis Roberts, ISS Key Account Director said:
"This is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved in the initiative, especially with the increasing demand for sustainable solutions and continued focus on climate change.
Our purpose is to facilitate our client’s objectives and this is a perfect example of how we have achieved this through empowerment and a shared vision and values. We have since expanded this across our Ireland portfolio and hope to see this continue to be adopted by others around the world. I am incredibly proud of both my team and our client for what they’ve achieved here."
The account team were there to collect the award on behalf of all involved and were joined by James Lester, Managing Director Business Services and Louis Roberts, Key Account Director Business Services.
