Digital Transformation of Property - an inspiring seminar to celebrate International Women's Day
On the afternoon of Thursday 8th March, to celebrate and show our support for International Women’s’ Day, ISS hosted an Executive Briefing on the Digital Transformation of Property at Claridge’s in central London
With over 45 guests in attendance, a mix of senior women clients as well as ISS Leaders and up and coming ISS talent, the event was hosted by Kath Fontana, Managing Director of ISS Technical Services. Guest speakers Dan Hughes, Founder of Alpha Property Insight, and Lisa Barclay, Program Director of IBM Watson Internet of Things (IOT), both gave insightful presentations on the trends and challenges of the future workplace.
Dan Hughes opened with the McKinsey statistic that 44% of real estate jobs will be replaced by technology over the next ten years. As a result, understanding the implications of data and how it will be used will be vital, as data underpins everything. Focusing on five current trends in the built environment: jobs, technology platforms, use of buildings, data and the culture of organisations, Dan predicted an accelerated pace of change for the discipline.
Lisa Barclay discussed IBM Watson’s Internet of Things and how the ISS partnership with IBM was active in the collaboration on the IBM headquarters in Munich. As almost everything in life becomes connected, IOT is changing the way that businesses operate, increasing productivity, collaboration, enjoyment, comfort and convenience. The IOT Workplace experience enables interaction with your workplace and all of its services, in the way that you want, from wherever you are. It provides control over your immediate surroundings and acts as the ‘digital twin’ of the building – a great help for existing employees as well as new ones!
Our speakers were joined by Jane Jones, ISS Managing Director, Key Accounts for a lively panel debate facilitated by Kath Fontana. The event was a fantastic opportunity for like-minded professionals to network and share challenges and ideas. Liz Dean, Finance Director ISS described the briefing as ‘a great event to celebrate International Women’s Day, look to the future of IOT and a chance to expand my network’.
