ISS Announces New Contract with OZ Minerals
ISS Facility Services Australia has been awarded its first remote resources contract in regional South Australia. Commencing 18th September 2018, ISS is providing village operations, maintenance, aerodrome and transport services at the OZ Mineral's Tjungu and Exploration Villages for the Carrapateena Copper Mining Project.
ISS is proud to commence a new relationship with OZ Minerals – one of Australia’s largest copper producers. This will become one of ISS’ largest contracts in the country, and will complement our robust resources portfolio, which consists of 13 major customers in Western Australia and Queensland, where we manage remote accommodation villages and housing for over 12,000 guests and residents.
OZ Minerals is an Australian based modern mining company, and is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX100). The company owns and operates the copper-gold mine at Prominent Hill and is developing one of Australia’s largest copper-gold deposits at Carrapateena, located approximately 160km north of Port Augusta. The Tjungu Village is currently under construction, and will eventually house over 500 workers. It is expected that the mine will be commissioned in Q4 2019 after which, it will ramp up to steady state production.
In our new contract with OZ Minerals, ISS will be providing an integrated suite of facility management services including catering, retail, accommodation management, asset maintenance, cleaning, laundry, aerodrome management and grounds maintenance. Through our service delivery, we are committed to creating a safe and professional service with a focus on providing the best resident experience and establishing an environment where workers can rest, refuel and be at their most productive.
As part of the project, ISS will also work extensively with the Kokatha Aboriginal Corporation, Traditional Owners and regional businesses, to provide Community engagement, direct employment, business incubation and local supply partnering. Our solution aims to provide clear pathways for Indigenous training and employment and our supply chain will focus upon community integration.
This is an exciting win for ISS, expanding our footprint in regional South Australia. South Australia has long been a successful part of the ISS business, with the ISS Adelaide Support Centre already supporting Key Accounts including SA Health Sites, The University of Adelaide, Adelaide International Airport and Nyrstar in Port Pirie.
ISS CEO of Australia and New Zealand Scott Davies, comments: “We are delighted to expand our geographic footprint in the resources sector and strengthen our presence in S.A, where we already employ some 1,700+ staff. We are an experienced operator in the Australian Resources industry, and are looking forward to developing a strong partnership with OZ Minerals to deliver on their goals of stakeholder value, safety, cost, quality and continuity”.
