Danish community award 'Fællesskabsprisen' recognises ISS project and employee

‘Fællesskabsprisen’ works to find and celebrate people and projects that strengthen the Danish community. This year, the integration project ‘Headstart’, with ISS Denmark as one of the main actors, and ISS employee Tina Skovmand Jensen have won two of the awards.
At yesterday’s award ceremony one of the community awards under ‘Fællesskabsprisen’ was awarded to Headstart, a project initiated in 2016 by ISS Denmark, Danish Red Cross and Danish union 3F. Headstart aims to build on the momentum that begins when an asylum seeker receives a residence permit. At that time, the motivation for engaging in both the local society and the job market is high.

Through Headstart, ISS offers the individual refugee help to clarify their professional competencies, an assessment of potential education or practical training, and advice on how to develop a CV, learn about potential job areas and apply for positions.

Group CEO Jeff Gravenhorst says:
“The work that ISS Denmark has done as part of project Headstart is a very good example of how we can have a positive impact on the communities where we do business. For many years, we have focused on integrating diverse employees across all our markets. By integrating people firstly in the labour market and secondly into the overall society, we can really make a difference for this group of people. Congratulations to ISS Denmark on the award.”

ISS’ Job Development department in ISS Denmark has played an important role as coordinators and collaborators with the around 1,000 companies involved in the project supplying internships.

Rya Lene Terney, Head of CSR and Job Development at ISS Denmark, who received the award on behalf of ISS says:
“We are very happy and proud that project Headstart wins ’Fællesskabsprisen’. The award helps put focus on how important it is to clarify competencies already while asylum seekers are applying for residency. The early efforts have proven crucial for further integration.”

A role model
A second community award went to ISS manager Tina Skovmand Jensen for being a role model for people struggling to join the job market. After 21 years on public benefits, Tina went through a traineeship with ISS in 2008 and was after one month hired as a service employee. After three years, Tina became a supervisor and has since then been appointed manager in ISS.

Through her work and skills development at ISS, Tina has built strong professional competencies. Next year, she can celebrate her 10-year anniversary with the company.
