The 2013 BICSc Award for Client Commitment to Training underlines the partnership's approach to responsible employment.
ISS UK and PwC received the award for Client Commitment to Training at the recent British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) annual awards dinner, which are among the most prestigious accolades in the industry. The BICSc is the largest independent, professional and educational body within the cleaning industry with over 5,000 individual and corporate members in the UK and internationally.
The Client Commitment to Training Award is presented to BICSc clients that exhibit high levels of support for their contractors, therefore helping them to achieve excellence in training.
PwC and ISS received the accolade for working in partnership to provide an accredited Cleaning Professionals Skills Suite (CPSS) training centre at PwC’s office at More London. Launched in March 2011, the CPSS is becoming the most widely used cleaning qualification in the UK and internationally. The BICSc accredited qualification includes three mandatory units, designed to ensure the safety of the cleaning operatives and the users of the building, and for the sustainability of the building.
The establishment of the ISS/ PwC training centre has provided structured and nationally accredited training to all members of the ISS cleaning team. This has made a real difference to the role the operatives carry out, helping them to realise just how important they are to the client’s service delivery.
Since 2005, ISS have worked in partnership with PwC to deliver a range of Facility Services including, Housekeeping, Handyman and Planned Cleaning. The contract now covers 30+ sites across the UK and Northern Ireland and employs approximately 220 operatives.
Dave Martin, National Account Manager, ISS Facility Services in the UK, commented:

The award emphasises the client’s role in providing total support in the training and commitment we make to our team. Like the Living Wage and other previous initiatives, PwC are always keen to work with us to do what is right for our people and the service.
