ISS has been recognised in the Danish Export Canon for delivering an impressive business performance, which other companies can learn from.
More than 300 companies were nominated for Danish Export Canon (Danmarks Eksport Kanon) and the nomination list counts many successful exporters. Following careful consideration and thorough discussion The Canon Committee has selected 30 companies from a variety of parameters, including economic performance and growth over several years, export capacity and global presence. At the same time the committee has looked for unique expertise in different areas.
The Export Canon stated:
– Paradoxically, ISS, one of Denmark's largest companies, makes a living by providing services that are not always noticed. ISS ensures that all the practical details about a business is taken care of so that a company can concentrate on doing its core business.
The 30 companies selected for the Export Canon are specific and tangible examples of how to achieve success in an increasingly competitive global market. Several of the companies could help solve some of tomorrow's biggest challenges in food, health, the green markets or in efficient logistics and robotics.
The selected companies are divided into eight different categories: locomotives, niche masters, merchants, green frontrunners welfare exporters, super designers, chameleons and the born globals. Within each category there are common denominators which are important in the larger story of modern Danish export.
ISS have been placed in the category ‘Locomotives’, which represent the heaviest part of Danish export companies. 3,000 of the country's companies are responsible for more than 90 percent of the export, but if you look closer, it turns out that just 100 companies produce half of the Danish export.
ISS is included in the canon because the company has delivered an impressive performance by for instance creating hundreds of thousands of jobs globally. ISS created over 50 jobs a day from 1989 to 2012 – a total of 422,873 new jobs. At the same time, revenue increased by 783 % and ISS entered 36 new countries, and today has offices in 50 countries.
