ISS has acquired two new companies in Turkey. The acquisitions add almost 50% revenue and place ISS as a leading supplier of catering services. In addition, the activities within cleaning and security are expanded.
Copenhagen, 19 May 2008 – ISS is expanding its activities in Turkey through the acquisitions of the catering company Sardunya and the cleaning and security company Paksil.
Combined the two companies has annual revenue of approximately DKK 400 million, and they will add 3,000 new ISS employees in Turkey.
“ISS entered Turkey in 2005. Before these two acquisitions we had already reached annual revenue of more than DKK 800 million in 2007, also through strong organic growth which underlines the potential in the Turkish market. That is part of the background for our strategy and our staking on these two new acquisitions,” says Jacob Götzsche, COO, Central and Eastern Europe, ISS A/S.
He continues: “ISS Turkey wanted to add catering to our integrated facility services. With the Sardunya acquisition we will now be able to offer our customers catering in combination with our other services. In addition, we see a great potential within the catering market itself in Turkey.
The Paksil acquisition is equally important, because it expands and supports our business within cleaning and security in ISS Turkey. Furthermore, Paksil is well known for its high quality and service within these areas.
Last but not least, the two acquisitions will result in a lot of great new ISS employees and customers and this always makes us happy,” ends Jacob Götzsche.
Sardunya is the third largest provider of catering in Turkey. The well respected catering company is headquartered in Istanbul and more than half of revenue comes from Istanbul. But Sardunya also provides catering services throughout Turkey. Sardunya was established in 1989 and has grown organically to its present size with 94 kitchens and approx. 1,500 employees. The customer portfolio consists of primarily B2B customers, private hospitals and private schools.
The Sardunya acquisition is subject to final approval by the authorities.
Paksil is the sixth largest provider of cleaning and the 20th largest provider of security in Turkey. Paxil is headquartered in Istanbul and has approx. 1,500 employees of which two thirds work within cleaning and the remaining one third provides security services. Paksil has only grown organically since its establishment in 2004. The customer portfolio consists of mainly office buildings, banks, shopping malls and hotels.
