Serving lunch in Mexico

ISS is expanding its activities in South America with a strategically important acquisition of the catering company Servicoin in Mexico.

Copenhagen , 23 June 2008 – ISS has bought Servicoin, the fourth largest catering company in Mexico. Servicoin has annual revenue of DKK 93 million and approximately 1,000 employees, of which 95% work full time.

“This acquisition has great strategically importance for ISS, because it is our entry to the entire catering market in South America. We have wanted to enter this market for a long time and to make the entry with a bang through such a large player, which is highly regarded and respected amongst the customers is truly a gift,” says Stig Pastwa, COO USA and South America, ISS A/S.

He continues:”With the acquisition of Servicoin we will now be able to offer our customers in Mexico a nice healthy lunch in addition to all the other services of ISS’s integrated facility services package. Furthermore, we are getting a new very nice portfolio of customers as part of the deal with Servicoin, and hopefully these customers will be interested in buying more services from ISS. This is an extra bonus.”

Servicoin was founded in 1975 by the Montalvo family, who has owned and run the business until today. Servicoin is a highly respected company in Mexico and it is regarded as a supplier of savoury, high quality meals. Servicoin serves 22,000 meals every single day and the customers are mainly large private companies (81%). The remaining 19% are public contracts to e.g. the police. Geographically the majority of the customers are in or near Mexico City.
