ISS: Now 300,000 Employees Worldwide / Archive - Press Releases - ISSThe ISS Group recently turned a unique corner: 300,000 employees world-wide. Employee no. 300,000 joined the company as part of an acquisition in Europe:

"This is a special feeling. ISS is of course in the habit of growing, but 300,000 people is a large number of employees to any company in the world. It makes us feel both proud and humble. Proud because we have grown the company to this size and provide jobs for so many employees. Humble because it is a great responsibility for the company as well as for all our managers around the world," says Eric Rylberg, CEO of ISS Management A/S.

Over the last decade, the number of ISS employees has tripled. In 1996, ISS had approximately 100,000 employees and activities in 29 countries. Today, ISS operates in 43 countries, and this year alone more than 27.000 new employees have joined the company.

"The ISS Group has grown rapidly over the last decade and 300,000 individuals are a lot of people. Sometimes, it is difficult to fully comprehend that the small, local night security firm, which was founded back in 1901 employing just 20 night watchmen, has developed into a multinational company. Probably, it is because we still live by the same basic business principles as back then: A strong spirit of entrepreneurship and our employees' ability and willingness to provide good service. This has always been - and continues to be - at the heart of our company's development and achievement," explains Eric Rylberg.

ISS' new strategy plan, Route 101, which was launched in April 2005, aims at reaching 101 billion DKK in annual revenue, which will of course require ISS to continue to grow its workforce considerably:

"As we continue to develop our business from the world's largest cleaning company to the world's leading Facility Services company and employ more people, our management task and responsibility towards our employees will increase, and we will develop the diversity of the jobs and create even more career opportunities in the future", says Eric Rylberg.
