ISS acquires Swedish train service operator
ISS has acquired TraffiCare, a Facility Services operator generating annual turnover of DKK 416 million. TraffiCare of Sweden specialises in servicing trains in train stations using the unique ”Ready-to-roll” concept and is now positioned to expand ISS’s position within Facility Services in Sweden. The concept includes de-icing, light maintenance, shunting and other services.
- Servicing of trains is a relatively new area for ISS in Sweden, but we have many years of experience in this area on a northern European scale. We have serviced the Danish state railways for many years, and we have just made a joint venture in Norway with the Norwegian state railways. We also have a strong position in the UK – for example, ISS operates the contract for Eurostar, the train service between London and Paris, says Thorbjørn Graarud, Managing Director International.
He sees a good potential for extending ISS’s competences in the area to other countries.
- We intend to set up a team to propagate best practice in the area between our countries. We expect that the acquisition of TraffiCare will provide us with good systems that we can exchange with other countries, says Thorbjørn Graarud.
TraffiCare, previously a company in the AB Swedcarrier group, is the leading Swedish provider of internal and external cleaning of trains and of light maintenance of trains. The company’s 1,022 staff will be part of ISS Sverige AB.
