The Dutch State has picked ISS to take care of the premises of the Ministry
of Finance in The Hague. ISS has won the assignment in a consortium with four
other companies, called The Safire Consortium.
The project is unique. It
covers every conceivable part of a building project. From designing over
building and financing to maintaining and operating the premises of the Ministry
of Finance for the next 25 years. Moreover, it is organised as a Public Private
Partnership (PPP). And it is the first time the Dutch Government puts one of
their office buildings out to tender in the form of PPP.
ISS has been
closely involved in the design of the building. As a result, the building is
user-friendly for the residents and requires low maintenance.
"As the
provider of Integrated Facility Services, we are the obvious choice for such a
complex and large-scale contract. We are pleased to get the chance to show what
we are capable of," said Ronald Boesjes, Sales Director Corporate Accounts and
responsible for commercial services at ISS Netherlands.
ISS will take
care of all facility services in and around the premises. This includes
catering, landscaping and garden maintenance, reception and security services,
cleaning, provision of sports facilities and the management of an internal art
gallery.
ISS' Integrated Facility Services concept ensures genuine added
value for the residents and maximum cost benefits for the client. The major
benefit is that ISS works as customer-oriented and efficient as possible by
matching all services with a pool of employees. For example, employees who clean
the building in the morning can pitch in with catering at lunch
hour.
"Basically the Ministry of Finance should only be concerned with
managing the finances of the Netherlands - in other words their core business.
We see it as our task to help them in this as much as possible as far as
providing facility services is concerned," said John Nederstigt, the ISS Safire
project manager.
The renovated building will be reopened in the autumn of
2008. ISS Landscaping Services will be taking care of the creation of the entire
garden before the opening.
The Safire Consortium consists of ABN AMRO
Bank NV, BURGERS ERGON BV, GTI NV, ISS Nederland BV and Strukton Groep
NV.
