ISS provides catering at new large paper factory in Uruguay
In Uruguay, ISS has won the tender of providing catering services at the Montes del Plata project, a consortium created by Swedish/Finnish Stora Enso and Chilean Arauco for paper manufacturing.
Uruguay is one of the smallest countries in South America, but also one of the most stable seen from a political and economic perspective. ISS Uruguay is located in the country’s capital, Montevideo, and has been active here since 2001 engaging 1,600 ISS employees.
Earlier this year, the tender of providing catering at the Montes del Plata project was up, and ISS won against several other international service companies.
– Our solution completely met the customer’s requirements as we demonstrated that from an operational and logistics point of view, ISS Uruguay was the only company in the country capable of delivering the required service. We proposed to prepare the meals in our facility in Montevideo during the first phase of the operation, construction, and send it to the different sites, and then, after 5 months, begin to cook in their facilities, reducing logistical expenses. This way we were able to go along with the construction project’s increase and decrease of mouths to feed over time, which will range from 400 to 6,000 constructions workers. This way we are able to meet the client’s biggest concerns – flexibility in the service and a guarantee of a high quality service, said Country Manager of Uruguay, Alejandro Luis Avila.
The contract commenced August 22nd and will run for two years. During this two-year period ISS will provide the workers with 6 million meals and at the peak of construction at the site serve 18,000 meals a day.
