ISS Australia wins contract at one of the world's largest mining ventures
During the next few years up to 100 ISS staff will provide all facility services at a CITIC Pacific Mining venture in Cape Preston, Western Australia. It is one of the world's largest mining ventures.

ISS will provide services within catering, cleaning, procurement, ground maintenance, waste management, reception services, wet mess operations, healthy lifestyle co-ordination, function management, waste water management, pool operation, fresh water management and village maintenance.

Called the Sino Iron project, these works involve the removal of some 2 billion tonnes of magnetite iron ore. Each year this will amount to approximately 160 million tonnes or the equivalent of more than 3,000 Sydney Harbour Bridge steel frames.

The remoteness of the site means that project workers, approximately 4,000 during construction and 600 long term operational staff, will live in a mining camp. This facility, Project Cape Preston, will be run by ISS. It is located about 100 km south of Karratha in Western Australia.

- Under stiff competition ISS secured one of the biggest facilities management contracts in Australia, said Roger Mills, ISS National General Manager Resources.
