HRH Prince Joachim presents Flemming Bendt with the 2016 CSR People Prize for social responsibility

ISS Denmark wins 2016 CSR People Prize for social responsibility

ISS is recognised for its innovative approach and longstanding commitment to advancing corporate social responsibility among companies
ISS Denmark has been awarded the CSR People Prize 2016 for actively using its size and position to raise awareness of corporate social engagement, according to the prize jury. The award was presented by HRH Prince Joachim of Denmark at a conference in Copenhagen.

According to the jury behind the CSR People Prize, ISS has distinguished itself through its long-term efforts to include a variety of vulnerable groups in the labour market. ISS also uses its size and market position to create new models, methods, and knowledge for how other companies can work with and extend their social responsibility.

Among its many efforts, ISS works actively to help integrate refugees into the labour market as well as psychologically vulnerable young people who have difficulty getting started with an education. The unifying goal is to help large groups of people get a job or an education. ISS has also developed a business case demonstrating that there are clear financial benefits from fostering diversity among employees.

Flemming Bendt, Country Manager of ISS Denmark, said:

"We want our company to be diverse and reflect society, and there is no doubt that our work with unemployed, disadvantaged people has given us a better and more diverse field of candidates during our hiring process. For ISS, it is absolutely crucial that we have access to skilled labour, so in that way our efforts to bring disadvantaged people into the job market directly impacts our core business.”

Mette Rønnau, Chair of the CSR People Prize jury and Director at Cabi, said:

"ISS stands out for being particularly innovative and for disseminating their experiences with social responsibility. It is a company that goes to incredible lengths to document and demonstrate the value of being socially responsible, without sacrificing the human and financial bottom line.”

The CSR People Prize has been awarded since 1998 by the Business Forum for Social Responsibility (VFSA). The award goes to companies that show a strong commitment to social responsibility – for example by ensuring well-being in the workplace or by providing career opportunities for refugees and other vulnerable groups. The CSR People Prize is awarded in two categories: one for large companies with over 100 employees, which ISS won, and one for small businesses with fewer than 100 employees.
