Across the sound to Sweden

The first affiliate outside Denmark opened in 1936 when the firm set up business in Malmö. In reality, it was nothing more than a Danish department located in Sweden. An actual Swedish subsidiary was not established until 1946. The subsidiary was set up in Stockholm, the Swedish capital.

Allmänna Städnings Aktiebolaget (ASAB) was founded with a share capital of 30,000 Swedish kroner. Mårten Mannerstråle, an engineer, was appointed director. The following year, management set up a new subsidiary, A/B Svanen, to handle cleaning at Bromma Airfield. Soon, another department was set up in Gothenburg.
