ISS Education wins the Change4Life Award

ISS Education wins the Change4Life Award
ISS Education in UK was awarded the Change4LifeAward at the 2013 LACA Awards for Excellence held in Birmingham.

07-08-2013

Now in their 17th year, the LACA Awards acknowledge individuals and teams who continue to make a real difference in education catering. Change4Life is a Government initiative which encourages everyone to make small, but significant changes to ‘Eat well, move more and live longer’.

Since 2009 LACA have been a Change4Life partner acknowledging the role that School caterers play in the collective effort to improve the eating habits and lifestyles of children and young people.

The Change4Life Award is given to the provider which has reflected Change4Life into its service, organisation or company. ISS received the accolade in recognition of several school gardening and healthy eating initiatives which encourage children to enjoy and form an interest around natural, healthy food whilst getting them moving too.

The judges were impressed with the holistic ‘seed to plate’ approach that ISS have developed in conjunction with Blue Peter Gardener Chris Collins, to complement their nutritious catering service. From a Green Fingers Campaign which encourages children to take up gardening through a fun website, recipes, ‘how to guides’, competitions and school visits from Chris; to ‘hands-on’ involvement in community gardening projects and classroom sessions with ISS Education’s resident nutritionist, the schemes deliver the Change4Life objectives by giving students the  tools to make better dining decisions and to influence their families and friends to make valuable changes to their eating habits too.

Mark Davies, Divisional Director for ISS Education UK, said:
– Change4Life continues to be a very important campaign and has had a positive influence on our service over the past few years. We are all so pleased to have received this award as it marks another step in the right direction to demonstrate to the educational world that what we are doing within ISS is the right thing for all our students.
