07-06-2013

Each year, HR Norway’s Competence Award is given to a company or organisation that has achieved particularly good results in the area of human resources and organisational development. The jury, which this year consisted of Gunnar Marius Beam, Director of Leadership in Foreign Affairs, Vibeke Hammer Madsen, Executive Director of FAIR, Thor Simensen, HR Group Director at Manpower, Anne Cathrin Haueng, senior manager at Deloitte Norway, gave the following reasons for the award going to ISS Norway this year:

  • Strategy-based competency development and holistic approach
  • Impact through improvement of all HR measurement parameters
  • Massive investment in apprentices
  • Outstanding integration of employees from 120 different cultures/nations
  • Engagement and involvement through sound and innovative information
  • A relatively small HR staff have been able to create major impact in the company

Organisational and Competence Director at ISS Norway, Erik Simensen, said:
– We are very proud to receive HR Norway’s Competence Award. We have a well thought through strategy for competences with a clear link to the company’s value chain, nationally and internationally. This award is an important recognition of this work.

ISS is in a market with strong competition in the individual business areas and expertise is deliberately used as a competitive advantage.

Driving force behind HR Norway’s Competence Award, Jan Wiese, commented:
– We see that they use the company’s value chain as a basis for clarifying strategic skill requirements.

The jury emphasised that ISS has developed much expertise in own ranks. It creates huge loyalty among employees. Erik Simensen commented:
– People are often here throughout their career.

ISS Norway has a low turnover in relation to the industry the company operates in. The jury also noted that new workers already at the beginning of employment are presented with career opportunities and that careers are developed in collaboration between the employee and ISS in regards to the individual dreams and aspirations. The jury notes with interest that ISS Norway has well-functioning apprenticeships in all business areas.
