The main environmental impacts from ISS’s operations derive from our cleaning services and consist of use of chemicals as well as water and energy consumption. We also emit CO2 through the use of cars in our operations and travel activities.
In general, there are two ways in which ISS can influence the extent of our impacts: through the design of processes and equipment we use, and through the portfolio of services we offer to our customers.
As part of the Group HSE and CR Action Plan, we ran an environmental campaign in 2011 to raise awareness of our environmental impact and on how we might all take measures to reduce this. As a pilot project, we will also investigate further reducing our energy consumption at our head office. We are presently working with an external partner looking at projects that will lead to energy savings and reductions.
