BIFM Awards 2011
The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) has announced that Telefónica and ISS have won the 2011 award for Impact on Organisation and Workplace for our joint work on Telefónica’s UK head facility.
The decision to create Telefónica’s new Bath Road HQ Campus site was a strategic decision: the vision was to bring all head office functions together under one roof from their three buildings across Slough. This new campus was to reflect the openness of the business, support business communications, create flexible space as well as space that staff and customers alike would enjoy.
Summarising the winning entry, one of the Judges said “A great FM team, a great space and an extremely well conceived and executed project – truly a space I would like to work in, and a team I would be proud of. A credit to the industry.”
The project was known as “Project Our Space” and received full support throughout the business from all levels; with extensive and successful communications throughout, involving the business in a number of key decisions and with the whole process led by the Estates and FM team. The project team created “huggers” and “hoppers” to maximise desk usage, a variety of break-out areas to conduct business and supported all of these areas with technology to facilitate a range of work settings to support collaboration amongst its teams. With a very good provision of shared spaces, generous space allocations, good use of light and colour, the project has delivered on its brief and made a significant impact to the Telefónica business, its employees and customers.
Matthew Key, Chairman and CEO of Telefónica Europe, said, “The team of in-house FM and ISS has fantastically realised my vision, in terms of a facility that delivers on space, function and creativity, supported by the level of quality services required to meet our objectives.”
Jane Sheard, Managing Director, ISS Facility Services Integrated Solutions, added, “It is always great to receive external recognition. Telefónica had a clear vision of what it wanted to achieve, backed up by an incredibly strong in-house FM team. We are all incredibly proud of the results achieved at the Bath Road campus and it is really gratifying to receive so much positive feedback from building users and visitors. I would also like to thank the ISS team working there for its unfailing commitment to deliver for Telefónica.”
